Gladia, a French AI startup specializing in transcription and audio intelligence, has raised $16 million in a Series A funding round led by XAnge, with additional contributions from Illuminate Financial, XTX Ventures, and other investors. This funding brings the company’s total capital to over $20 million since its establishment in 2022, according to a Venture Beat article.
The startup has developed a multilingual real-time transcription engine that supports over 100 languages. CEO Jean-Louis Quéguiner told Venture Beat that he founded the company because existing speech recognition models often struggled with non-English audio and accents due to limited training data. “As you can hear from a beautiful French accent, I’m not an English speaker and I was extremely frustrated,” Quéguiner said.
According to an article in SiliconANGLE, Gladia’s engine operates with a latency of under 300 milliseconds and is designed for compatibility with different tech infrastructures — including SIP, VoIP, and FreeSwitch. The company’s CTO, Jonathan Soto, explained, “This allows us to easily integrate real-time transcription and analysis into our customers’ AI platforms so they can focus on delivering the best services to their end users.”
Gladia’s solution currently supports over 600 clients worldwide and is gaining traction in the enterprise market, particularly among companies that require efficient note-taking and meeting recording solutions. The company’s approach addresses the increasing demand for automated transcription tools across sectors like sales enablement and customer service.
